di ako historian, before was the barter system na exchanging products with similar value, pero nung magkaroon ng interest ang tao and later on value sa mga shiny mineral originally gold and silver, it was considerered tradable, dati maliit na butil lang bato lang yan, but later when kingdoms expand, and what maybe the lydians was thingking to monopolize the trading industry to mold the stones, to depict their rules over their territory.

just my take on it, not really factual.

Opo umabot po nuon sa barter sa atin pa po. Dati po kasi libre pa e. Tapos lahat pwede po pakinabangan. In reality po mahirap na talaga hanapin pera.
