Google has rolled out a significant upgrade to Google Vids, its video editing suite, powered by two of its latest AI models — Veo 3.1 (video generation) and Lyria 3 / Lyria 3 Pro (music generation) .
Free Video Generation for All
Anyone with a free Google account can now generate high-quality video clips using Veo 3.1 — no subscription needed . You get 10 free video generations per month, which you can trigger from a simple text prompt or a photo, making it great for things like animated flyers, quick promos, or greeting cards .
AI Pro & Ultra Exclusive Features
ρáíd subscribers (Google AI Pro and Ultra) get access to more powerful tools :
- Custom music via Lyria 3/Lyria 3 Pro — Generate original soundtracks from 30-second clips up to 3-minute full tracks tailored to your video's mood
- Directable AI Avatars — Place avatars into specific scenes, have them interact with uploaded objects or props, and customize their appearance, outfits, and backgrounds — all while keeping a consistent voice and identity
New Tools for Everyone
Two additional free features are also launching :
- Chrome Extension (Screen Recorder) — Record your screen and yourself from anywhere in the browser without navigating to Vids first
- Direct YouTube Publishing — Export finished videos straight to YouTube (defaults to Private for review before going public)

Google AI Ultra and Workspace AI Ultra accounts now get a massive capacity increase — up to 1,000 Veo video generations per month .
