I asked a similar question on reddit, and all 3 of the comments I received recommended me the ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro, but from what I have researched, the SSD is prone to dying in less than a year, which is concerning, because I am going to be using it for college, programming, gaming, saving YouTube tutorials, movies, and tv shows/series. Is it still true up to this day or has the quality changed in recent years? Does anyone have an alternative recommendation? The question I posted on reddit was strictly asking for PCIe Gen 3, but I am now open for the Gen 4, because of how limited the availability is.

The ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro is indeed a popular choice among budget NVMe SSDs due to its competitive performance and price point. However, like any other electronic device, there have been reports of some users experiencing failures with this particular model. It's important to note that no storage device is completely immune to failures, and there will always be a small percentage of units that may have issues.

That being said, it's also worth considering that the overall reliability of the ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro has generally been positive for many users. ADATA has a good track record in the SSD market and often provides solid customer support in case any issues arise. Additionally, keep in mind that reviews and user experiences can vary, so it's always a good idea to read a variety of sources to get a balanced perspective.

If you're concerned about the potential for early failures, you could also look into other options from reputable brands like Samsung, WD, Crucial, or Kingston, which also offer budget-friendly NVMe SSDs with DRAM that could suit your needs. Ultimately, it's important to weigh the pros and cons of each option and choose the one that best fits your requirements and budget.

Buy something cheap but good enough for your needs. Get Crucial if you want to be sure.
- "gaming, saving YouTube tutorials, movies, and tv shows/series."
Put all these on HDD or you are wasting space.
