Is the Philippines poverty getting worse? Like I literally see it at my work and people who are in debts because of they can't feed their children at such early age or unplanned way of having family?

Yes, unfortunately, poverty in the Philippines has been a persistent issue for many years, and there are indications that it is getting worse. According to the World Bank, the poverty rate in the Philippines has remained high, with about 16.7% of the population living below the poverty line in 2018. This means that more than 16 million Filipinos are living in poverty.

The COVID-19 pandemic has also worsened the situation, as many Filipinos lost their jobs or had their incomes reduced due to lockdowns and quarantine measures. This has led to increased food insecurity and housing insecurity for many families, which, in turn, has resulted in a rise in poverty.

Additionally, the Philippines has one of the highest birth rates in Southeast Asia, and unplanned *******cies often lead to financial strain for families, particularly those living in poverty. The lack of access to education and employment opportunities also contributes to the poverty problem in the country.

Efforts to alleviate poverty in the Philippines are ongoing, including government programs such as the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, which provides cash transfers to poor families; and initiatives from non-governmental organizations and private companies that aim to create livelihood opportunities and improve access to education and healthcare. However, much more needs to be done to address the root causes of poverty in the country.
