Epic Games, the developer behind the wildly popular battle royale game Fortnite, is shutting down operations in China by mid-November.
A translation on Fortnite’s website reveals that the Chinese version of the game, which initially launched in 2018, was simply a “test” that “has now come to an end.”
According to the announcement, users will no longer be able to register or download Fortnite from the portal starting Monday, Nov. 1.
On Nov. 15 at 11 a.m. (Beijing Standard Time), Epic Games will shut down Fortnite’s servers completely and bar users from logging in and accessing the game.

The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday maintained that the country’s COVID-19 response is “improving” despite Bloomberg’s recent report naming the Philippines as the “worst place to be” amid the pandemic.
In an interview on Dobol B TV, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire mentioned the improvements in the government’s vaccination program and its testing capacity.
In March this year, Vergeire said the government was only able to inoculate around 3,000 per day, which eventually increased up to 1 million vaccinations on some dates.

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said plastic barriers for separating passengers inside public utility vehicles (PUVs) were no longer required, admitting that its use was not backed by science.
“Drivers and operators can already remove them because there are no medical findings, based on our studies, that they can prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Gabriela party-list on Monday filed a certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA) for Eleksyon 2022 before the Commission on Elections at the Harbor Garden Tent of Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila.

Google is reminding us that it will enable two-factor authentication for 150 million more accounts by the end of this year. The Verge reports:
In 2018, Google said that only 10 percent of its active accounts were using two-factor authentication. It has been pushing, prodding, and encouraging people to enable the setting ever since. Another prong of the effort will require more than 2 million YouTube creators to turn on two-factor authentication to protect their channels from takeover. Google says it has partnered with organizations to give away more than 10,000 hardware security keys every year. Its push for two-factor has made the technology readily available on your phone whether you use Android or iPhone.

According to a FACEBOOK poll conducted by Rappler, a US-funded anti-Marcos news website, Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. received 54% of the vote, while Leni Robredo received 42%. The poll was supposed to run for three days, from October 7 to October 9. However, it was abruptly shut down on the second day, when a Marcos victory was clearly irreversible.
According to the Manila Bulletin poll, Marcos won by a landslide, receiving 72 percent of the vote to Robredo's 24 percent. Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso came in third place with only 2% of the vote. Senators Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa, Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao, and Panfilo "Ping" Lacson all received less than one percent of the vote.

Former US Secretary of State Colin Powell died due to complications from Covid-19, his family confirmed on Monday.
