Fighting broke out after Russia invaded Ukraine at the Chernobyl nuclear plant where radioactivity is still leaking from history’s worst nuclear disaster 36 years ago.
Russian forces took control over the site after a fierce battle on Thursday with Ukrainian national guards protecting the decommissioned plant, Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak said.
The condition of the plant’s facilities, a confinement shelter, and a repository for nuclear waste is unknown.

Details : The Taiwan Air Force stepped up combat readiness when nine Chinese planes entered Taiwan's air defense zone.
Taiwan, which China considers its territory, has complained about regular similar missions by the Chinese Air Force for the past two years, although the planes have not come close to Taiwan itself.
The ministry said the latest mission involved eight Chinese J-16 fighters and one Y-8 reconnaissance plane that flew over the area northeast of Taiwan-controlled Pratas in the upper South China Sea.
In this regard, the ministry said, Taiwan has deployed air defense missiles to "monitor the situation."

Globe Telecom launched a fresh crackdown on network-disruptive signal boosters while urging the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to strengthen regulations against the use of îllégâl gear.
“Globe is reiterating its call for the NTC to develop an updated framework against the sale and use of îllégâl boosters and repeaters in the country,” the telco giant said in a statement. “This equipment is sold rampantly online and causes network disruptions.”

KIEV: Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Joe Biden have agreed to a summit — to be held only if Moscow does not invade Ukraine, France announced Monday following a frantic new round of diplomacy to avert an all-out war.
Both leaders have said yes in principle to the summit, proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron, his office said, with the White House confirming Biden's willingness, though it was notably cautious.
