DOH COVID-19 CASE BULLETIN #008

UPDATES: As of 12NN today, the Department of Health reports 73 new cases (PH308-PH380) of COVID-19. The total number of cases in the country is now at 380.

The DOH also reported four additional patients who recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 17. Meanwhile, DOH announced 6 new deaths. This brings the total number of deaths to 25.

The number of “silent carriers” – people who are infected by the new coronavirus but show delayed or no symptoms – could be as high as one-third of those who test positive, according to classified Chinese government data seen by the South China Morning Post.

Everybody in the UK has been asked to stop non-essential contact, but people are still allowed to exercise outside as long as they stay more than 2m (6.5ft) apart.

Cafes, pubs and restaurants have been ordered to close to tackle coronavirus. Nightclubs, theatres, cinemas, gyms and leisure centres are closing.

These steps are part of the UK's social distancing measures. Everybody is being asked to avoid non-essential contact with other people.

It follows people with flu-like symptoms - such as dry cough and high temperature - being asked to self-isolate at home to avoid infecting others.
