Hey! Today marks the first death anniversary of my tita who died from Cervical Cancer. I am raising awareness from Cancer since 2 of my tita's were diagnose of cancer (Cervical and ****** Cancer).

I have been with my tita all throughout the procedure. Last quarter of 2014 when she noticed that she was having a regla, though she's already menopause, she thought that it was just normal so she didn't bother telling us.

It was already December when we noticed that she was a little odd, she was obviously not feeling well. We checked her and she just said not to worry because she's just having a menstrual cramp and she's used to it.

Having a period when you're already menopause is not normal. So we had her checked. Series of test were done. Result came in and we're told that she has Cervical Cancer Stage 3b. The cancer cells have already spread on her liver, ribs and ******.

Her oncologist suggest laparoscopic hysteroctomy. January 2 she undergoes surgery and 30 days rest. 6 session of chemotherapy after 30 days, for every 21 days. And then radiation monday-friday for 20 days.

Lots of laboratories we're done such as ctscan, ultrasound, mri, ecg etc. She lost her hair but she's feeling better. Result on her check-up was good. It's been months, years that she's showing no signs of symptoms.

February 2017, she's showing signs of high-blood pressure so we had to take her to the hospital. She can't stand up since she's feeling like the world is spinning everytime she move. We called for cardiologist to have her check. He referred us to an ophthalmologist since he cant find any problem with my tita. Then ophthalmologist check her eyes, she saw something, she referred us to a Neurologist and have my tita checked through a cranial ctscan.

There, we saw that the cancer cell have spread in her brain, she has a 23mm brain tumor. That was the finish line for us. The only treatment was radiation as and cut open her head. Survival rate was low. Just the radiation in her pelvic was extremely painful, what more if it was in the head. She died a month after that.

Girls, we can prevent cervical cancer or detect early stage of cancer if we do a pap smear screening annually and cervical cancer vaccine.

Sorry for your loss titas and thank you for the detailed medical history background. Cervical cancer is the second most frequent cancer among Filipinas next to br***st cancer. We Filipinos typically ignore simple symptoms that may lead to complex situations. Madalas kasi takot malaman ang katotohanan, haha. Anyway, thanks for this awareness info for the reason that you shared a family medical situation...good health TS.

Thank you for sharing this info. Hopefully, this helps create awareness to others. Prevention is always better than cure.

Sorry for your loss.

True, natatakot sa lalabas na resulta kaya iniignore na lang ang karamdaman, kung kailan lalala dun pa aaksyonan.
