💡 Trivia TIL the shortest war in history lasted less than 45 minutes.

In 1896, Great Britain and the Sultanate of Zanzibar went to war over a royal succession dispute.

It started at 9:02 AM when British warships began bombarding the palace. By 9:40 AM, the Sultan's forces surrendered, the palace flag was hauled down, and the conflict was officially over. Total casualties: ~500 for Zanzibar, 1 injured British sailor.
