
Knowing someone is interested in you can change how you perceive them.
This is related to reciprocity of liking.
People generally tend to like others more when they believe those people like them.
Being desired can reduce uncertainty and make approaching the person feel safer.
But there's an important limitation.
Reciprocity doesn't mean telling absolutely anyone “I like you” will make them romantically attracted to you.
Existing attraction, context, and how genuine the interest appears still matter.
Sometimes chemistry grows partly because two people realize the attraction isn't one-sided.
