Physical appearance isn't the only thing influencing romantic desire.
Research suggests that when a potential partner responds in a way that makes someone feel understood, valued, and cared for, that responsiveness can increase feelings of intimacy and, under some circumstances, sexual interest.
This goes beyond simply agreeing with everything the other person says.
Someone can disagree with you while still making you feel heard.
Being understood can be attractive in ways a perfect profile picture can't reproduce.
