👨‍🏫 Tutorial Create FREE Minimalist High-Resolution City Map Posters

MapToPoster JS is a free, fully client‑side web app for designing printable, minimalist map posters of any location in the world.

What it does​

• Lets you search any city, address, or landmark and generate a stylized map view as a poster.
• You can pick different map styles, adjust zoom, tweak layout, and export a high‑resolution PNG suitable for printing.
• The interface includes poster presets (dimensions) so you can quickly choose common print sizes before exporting.

How it works (tech side)​

• Runs entirely in the browser using JavaScript, Leaflet/MapLibre, and html2canvas, so no map images are rendered on a backend server.
• The project is open‑source (MapToPoster JS) and published as a side project for people to learn from, fork, or contribute to.
• It’s inspired by the original Python MapToPoster by originalankur (CLI tool using OpenStreetMap data and GIS for minimalist city posters) but reimagined as an interactive web app.

Typical use cases​

• Create wall art of your hometown, favorite travel destination, or a memorable trip area.
• Generate custom prints for gifts, home decor, or Etsy‑style map posters without needing GIS or design tools.

How to use​

1. Search any city/address/landmark →
2. Choose a map style →
3. Adjust zoom & layout →
4. Export a print-ready PNG.

No backend. Everything runs in the browser. Built with vanilla JS, Leaflet, MapLibre GL, Vite, and Tailwind CSS.
