Once again, the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) and the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) stand at a controversial impasse as the pro league failed to field the first two of its 12 imports at the start of the 2025 Reinforced Conference on Tuesday, October 7.

In a scathing statement, PVL organizer Sports Vision blasted the local federation for “unprofessional” and “obstructionist” behavior in releasing the imports’ required International Transfer Certificates (ITC) for competition.“This delay not only disrupts the tournament’s competitive integrity but also jeopardizes the careers and contracts of professional players who traveled to the Philippines in good faith,” read the statement, which also emphasized the “timely submission of all documentation.”

“The PVL stressed that it remains committed to following international volleyball protocols and upholding the integrity of the sport, even as the impasse places both players and fans in limbo.”

This comes after the conference’s first game between reigning silver medalist Akari and rising ZUS Coffee suffered a substantial delay Tuesday afternoon at Ynares Center Montalban in Rizal, eventually ending with both teams fielding all-Filipino lineups with their imports glued to the bench.

Reached for comment, the PNVF respectfully said it has no counter-statement as of posting.

Delayed decisions or something cooking inside the office. This has been resolved, they should delay the opening day too.
