Bisaya Auteur Rod Maceda Says Upcoming WCN Projects Are “Worth the Wait”
By Nick Sandoval
CEBU CITY — At a time when many rising personalities would double down on momentum, Bisaya auteur Rod Maceda has chosen a different path—one that steps away from the traditional Philippine showbiz spotlight.
Fresh off the viral success of his LP album carrier single “Tambay (Official Music Video 2026 Edition),” which garnered over 598,000 organic views and shares on dark social platforms and 275,000 views on public social media, Maceda surprised fans with his decision to distance himself from mainstream entertainment.
In an exclusive response to WCN supporters, the 44-year-old artist addressed the question on everyone’s mind: Why step back now, just as his star power begins to rise?
“I’m a true world peace advocate.
The Manila showbiz industry, as it stands, no longer aligns with my vegan advocacy. I also don’t want to be controlled by political influences,” Maceda explained candidly.
He emphasized that his decision is rooted in principle rather than opportunity.
“What would I do in an industry whose system and products I don’t believe in? It may be hard to believe pero hindi ako mukhang pera. I need funding for my projects, yes—but I find ways to make things happen without compromising my integrity.”
Maceda revealed that he turned down multiple high-profile endorsement offers, citing ethical concerns.
“I declined four major brand deals because they weren’t aligned with my vegan values. I also refused online ******** endorsements. For me, ******** gives people false hope—and I stand by my belief that promoting it is harmful. And I'm not taking back what I said before that all celebrities: actors, entertainers, vloggers, content creators and Influencers promoting ******** are all cooperative components of evil."
The outspoken creative further reflected on the state of celebrity culture and public perception.
“If celebrities truly mean well, they should encourage people to believe in themselves—not idolize others. We are all equal. I will never place myself above anyone.”
Now embracing what he calls life as a “private merchant artist,” Maceda says independence has allowed him to focus fully on his craft.
“Unbought artists don’t need Manila showbiz to share their message with the world.”
Despite stepping away from the mainstream, Maceda remains highly active. He is currently working on his second album, following his debut release available exclusively through his official website in formats such as CD, Gold USB, cassette tape, and vinyl.
Sources close to the artist confirm that he is fully booked through 2026 and beyond, balancing commitments in music production, filmmaking, public service, and family life.
Contrary to circulating rumors.
“He’s not difficult to work with—he’s simply focused,” one insider shared.
With multiple projects reportedly in development under WCN, Maceda assures fans that what lies ahead will be worth the anticipation.
As he continues to carve his own path outside the conventional industry system, one thing is clear: Rod Maceda is not just building a career—he’s defining it on his own terms. doing his thing.
