reservist don't really engage in anti-domestic insurgency, they are just "reservist". in war times, they will be enabled though, mobilized to the battlefield.

I think its more on readiness rather than making them lean mean killing machine.

Di rin ako pabor sa logic na magiging disiplinado mga bata sa ROTC, pero it will make them ready to serve our country.

masasabi ko ko lang, I will let these newer generation experience what there parents want them to do.
We've been ready for war not that much time long ago and also the country is an archipelago we do not need to exceed in infantry numbers but increase efficiency in naval warfare

There's literally nothing to be gained in mandatory ROTC but just a breeding ground for businesses, gang and other ****ed up things that kids come up with. Our national defense force is STRUGGLING just to be on par with other SEA countries now were taking 2 steps back because the government thinks that having millions of "soon to be ready body bags" would fix the issue? kahit 10 million pa yang sundalo natin pero Enfield lang ang baril literal na meat grinder simulation lang mangyayari parang russian doctrine lang nung ww2

May Defense Treaty rin naman tayo sa US and also walang nakikitang advantage ang China sa pag invade sa pinas and they are more leaning on invading taiwan

If they really feel mandatory ROTC is needed so be it, tapos na ako diyan and i know almost walang silbi yan kung di mo naman gusto maging career soldier at labas sa kabilang tenga mga natutunan nila
No interest in forced subject = going bare minimum just to pass the subject and thats the end of that

Breeding ground for corruption tsk! mahirap aahon pinas nito puro pa atras ginagawa ng gobyerno

Abuser leader Namin lagi kaming kawawa at sobrang pinapahirapan kami piling nila sila god jusko

Naranasan ko rin yan college. Some of theme use their position to get advantage of those beautiful cadets. I hope VP Sarah would look this issue and would severely punish those officers who might abuse thier position.

iba naman yung tinutukoy mo buddy, in war time mas kaylangan din natin nang mga land troops.. navy won't stand a chance if wala na silang ma puntahan na naval port kasi nasakup na nang mga kalaban..

nasa horizon phase 2 na tayo nang AFP modernization buddy, going for 3 na ata. so yung hina-ing mo buddy na solve na yan noon pa ni PNOY at PDUTS more frigates incoming.

My defense treaty nga tayo buddy, pero tayo parin talaga tutulong sa sarili nating bansa, US may support us but they will not die for our own country.

just like I said, ROTC doesnt make you a real soldier.. but it just a familiarisation of what is it being a soldier.. respecting your officers, ano-ano yung mga ranks at chain of commands.

for me opinion ko lang kung bakit nawala ROTC dati, dahil hindi sa corruption but yung pro-active propaganda nang mga leftist students dati, mga baseless accusation.. mga tao dati syempre nag agree, since dati we are still left leaning, di pa aware mga tao dati sa kababuyan nang mga terrorist reds.

Exactly buddy bat ba natin hahayaan lang ang navy natin to be as is at bakit mas naging importante pa ang budget for adding more familiarize troops which are just pang dagdag body bags sa pilipinas and almost everyone knew that in war times most able-bodied men are likely forced to be enlisted in the military whether they went through ROTC or not

We've been going through those for literally a decade and were just going through phase 3
imagine that?
My defense treaty nga tayo buddy, pero tayo parin talaga tutulong sa sarili nating bansa, US may support us but they will not die for our own country.
Vietnam begs to differ, I know they lost but it just shows how much US dislikes losing influence in the pacific region and they wouldn't let their biggest threat annex countries
a treaty is a treaty US would lose massive influence from other countries if they tried to dodge the mutual defense
Like how Russia ignored its promises when they agreed to offer Ukraine a defense agreement once Ukraine finished their nuclear disarmament now most countries in Europe now wants to Join NATO literally the least thing Russia wanted

I know but let's recap what i've just said earlier, kung pinwersa mo ang bata sa isang bagay may matutunan ba yan? English tiklop mga kabataan, History tiklop mga kabataan, Values tiklop mga kabataan pano pa kaya if they've shown no interest in doing ROTC as far as i know is just a training ground for abusive shtheads dahil marami ganyang officer nakilala ko during my time

Familiarization okay fair enough that might help these folks during times of war. Efficiency? we might be lucky if half of them would remember those and its also free on google if anyone wants to learn it for familiarizing

No idea what is this about and i dont have any say about this

US wasnt supposed to be in vietnam, huli nalang nila na realise buddy.. kaya nga after vietnam ay nag iba na ang warfare, proxy wars na buddy or assymetric warfare.

Fair, my 2cents on this is that if they havent finished the modernization program in 27 years and ongoing they have no businesses in adding more budget problems for the sake of teaching the young about military coc and navigation, it helps but only if they just focus that budget on speeding up the phases and actually improve AFP and we wont be needing kids to fight for us

Philippine navy improving? good now lets not stop at that and actually improve it more by allocating more budget into it

The parents had no say if they wanted their child go through ROTC or not, they'd still be forced to go through it and lucky enough to finish it unscathed from abuses and i ****ing hope they wont make mil uniforms mandatory because that cost fortune for most of the Filipino families that barely makes a living and now forced to buy it.

Going through ROTC doesn't matter in a real war, a chinese private would sweep young conscripts that only knew about how mil coc works and what not and just add more problems for the actual Filipino soldiers

Project 100,000 is an actual proof that having more numbers doesn't necessarily mean good and PH have high rate in learning poverty, In an urban warfare setting untrained soldiers have no place in that type of warfare with the risk they carry

magandang angle din yung bud, ROTC is for nation building. kagaya nang mga NGO like gawad kalinga.

Exactly, but we have already called NSTP-CWTS for disaster response (aside from the tree planting ofcourse) and actually a pretty good alternative subject for mandatory instead of ROTC
I borrowed some learning modules from my friends when they were taking it and the amount of medical knowledge you can gain from it is invaluable and could actually be helpful in times of war when medical assistance is very essential

mas maganda semi-military for me. NSTP pwede rin, basta yung hahawak sa kanila either NDRRMO or any equivalent.

But they're not desperate enough to start a nuclear armageddon. Nukes were there as deterrent for potential world war.
Pyongpyang would never use nukes if war broke out between them and the south Korea.

Without nukes, NK is definitely weaker than SK. They will lose 100% if they don't use nukes.. Kung ikaw si Kim at natatalo ka na sa giyera between SK and NK, sure ka di ka gagamit ng nukes?

Only a paranoid would think that a nuclear war is likely to happen. 🤣
But they wil never resort of using nuclear weapons. You're just imagining my friend.
Sanaol kasing galing mo manghula🤣

If Kim is willing to use nuke on Soko, then they had done it long ago. They may look weak but they would not done such thing.

matindi din ang tension noon, isipin mo kaka tapos lang nang world war 2 dati... kaya nga na dissolve dati ang USSR dahil sa efforts nang mga leaders natin fearing that a nuclear holoucaust may happen. But it wasnt over yet, dahil ke Putin.

Nuclear de-escalation happened because muntikan na talaga sila mag putukan.

Obviously, nukes are for last resort. Kung tingin mo di gagamit ng nukes ang NK, edi sana sinugod na ng US or SK ang NK.

Ikaw, san nabagok ulo mo at ganyan ka magisip? 🤣
Most humans act civilized but behave differently when pushed into the corner.
One example here is yung Manila hostage crisis.

If magkaka-digmaan man sila, siguro mga proxy war lang not a direct conflict kasi pareho sila umiiwas baka mauwi sa nuclear exchange. Kaya nga effective ang nuclear weapons as a deterrent of potetial world war.

Oh talaga? Eh sinugod nga ng US yung IRAQ eh. Nung time na yon sabi nila may Weapon of Mass Destruction ang Iraq. Bakit sinugod nila? Patawa ka yata eh. 🤣🤣
