MANILA, Philippines—In just one month and three weeks, voters will decide the country’s future when they choose the candidates they want to fill more than 18,000 elective positions nationwide—starting with the successor of President Rodrigo Duterte, a post which is being contested by at least 10 candidates.
As presidential candidates continued to scramble for supporters and votes, the most crucial endorsement—by Duterte—appeared to be elusive although the outgoing president had given broad hints about his preferred successor.

This afternoon the Environment Committee of the European Parliament overwhelmingly adopted an ambitious report on the European Battery Regulation (74 to 8). This is an important hurdle towards establishing much awaited laws which will apply to all batteries sold on the European market.

YouTube on Friday broadened its blocking of Russian state-linked media channels to apply internationally after initially barring them only in Europe following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.
Russia's internationally condemned attack has provoked unprecedented sanctions from Western governments and businesses, including a growing list of US tech firms.
YouTube's guidelines "prohibit content denying, minimizing or trivializing well-documented violent events, and we remove content about Russia's invasion in Ukraine that violates this policy," the video sharing platform said.
"In line with that, effective immediately, we are also blocking YouTube channels associated with Russian state-funded media, globally," it added.

Ukraine has called for the Philippines’ business community to stop business dealings with Russia due to its invasion of the Eastern European country, which has taken the lives of individuals and caused massive destruction of homes.

MANILA — President Rodrigo Duterte has signed an executive order to include nuclear power in the country’s energy mix, as authorities prepare for the phasing out of coal-fired power plants and after earlier efforts failed due to safety concerns.
