On August 10, 2010, a bus carrying 37 passengers, mostly students, almost fell onto a cliff in Brgy. Obo, Dalaguete town in southern Cebu. Good thing the pine tree planted by Epimaco Amancio saved the lives of the passengers of the bus.
Amancio flashed a wide grin to the camera after he found out his tree was the savior.
Without this tree, the bus loaded with college students of Don Bosco Technological Center would have plunged into the ravine which is 500 feet deep. The driver lost control of the bus after the water from the radiator tank splashed to his thighs and burning it.
