👨‍🏫 Tutorial [TUTORIAL] Official Unlocking/Openline for PLDT & SMART Home 5G+ Modems via Email (NTC Mandated)

(Note: Kagaya ng nakikita natin sa mga threads like the PLDT Home 5G+ openline discussions, having the Official Receipt is a huge advantage).

Mga Kailangan (Requirements):

  1. Proof of Purchase: Official Receipt (OR) ng device.
  2. Valid ID: 1 or 2 Government-issued IDs ng owner na nasa resibo.
  3. Device Details: IMEI number (for phones/modems) at Serial Number ng device.
  4. Active Email Address
Step-by-Step Guide:

Code:
Subject: Formal Request for Device Unlocking pursuant to NTC MC No. 01-05-2019 - [Your Name] / [Device Model]

To Smart Communications Customer Service,
CC: NTC Consumer Welfare Division,

Good day,

I am writing to formally request the network unlocking of my [Device Brand and Model], which was purchased from your network on [Date of Purchase].

As of this date, the device has successfully completed its 24-month (2 years) period from the date of purchase. Pursuant to the NTC Memorandum Circular No. 01-05-2019 (Rules and Regulations on the Unlocking of Mobile Phones and Devices), telecommunications companies are mandated to unlock eligible devices upon the request of the customer after the lock-in period has expired.

Below are the details of my device for your reference:
- Name of Registered Owner: [Your Full Name]
- Contact Number: [Your Active Contact Number]
- Device Brand and Model: [e.g., PLDT Home 5G+ WiFi / iPhone 13]
- IMEI Number: [15-digit IMEI]
- Serial Number: [Device Serial Number]
- Date of Purchase: [Exact Date from Receipt]

I have attached a clear copy of my Official Receipt (OR) and my valid Government ID to verify my identity and ownership of the device.

I kindly request the unlock code or the remote unlocking procedure for this device as soon as possible. Thank you and I look forward to your prompt action on this matter.

Respectfully,

[Your Name]
[Your Contact Number]

Step 4: Wait for Confirmation and Follow-up

Drop your questions below kung may nalilito.

A:

You're welcome ka-PHC. Guaranteed po iyan if you have your receipts with you. Unlocking is supposed to be 48 hours but yet they are currently forwarding requests to Huawei so it may add an overhead say another 48 hours so at max mag rereply ho iyan within 4 working days.

What if wala na po yung resibo? And hindi nnmn binili online and sa reseller? Ano kaya other proof?

Hi! Base po sa current process, Smart/PLDT Customer Care generally looks for the Official Receipt (OR) or Invoice. If you bought it from a reseller or another person, your best option is to contact them and ask for a copy of the original receipt from when they purchased it from Smart/PLDT (sometimes merchants ay pwede maka reprint nito).

However, if getting the receipt is completely impossible, some users have tried submitting alternative proofs. You can try attaching these instead:

1. A clear picture of your device, making sure all the stickers and labels attached to it are visible.

2. A screenshot of your router details (like the web dashboard showing the IMEI and Serial Number).

3. Your Valid ID.

Pwede nyo po i-Try sending those in your email to Smart (and CC NTC). HINDI PO ito guaranteed bypass for the OR requirement, but it is the best alternative proof you can provide to show you possess the device! Good luck!

1. Openline / Any SIM Support: Pwede ka gumamit ng kahit anong network (Globe, DITO, Smart/TNT/PLDT, or GOMO).
2. Freedom sa Promos: Pwede kang magsalpak ng regular SIMs na may murang unlimited promos (like GOMO Unli Data, DITO 5G promos, or Smart Magic Data/Unli Data) depende sa pinakasulit at trending na promo.
4. Mas Mataas ang Resale Value: Mas mabilis ibenta at mas mataas ang demand ng openline na 5G modem kung balak mo itong ibenta in the future.

Ask ko Lang how many days po sila nag reresonse?
Based on the NTC Memorandum Circular No. 01-05-2019, telcos like Smart have exactly two (2) business days (48 hours) to respond after receiving your request. However, that 48-hour window is just for their initial action—they must either unlock the device, explain why it does not qualify, or "initiate a request to the OEM" (like Huawei).

Since Smart often needs to coordinate directly with the device manufacturer to obtain your specific unlock code, this definitely adds an overhead. The NTC rules specifically allow telcos to take longer if they provide an explanation of why they reasonably need "additional time to process the request". Factoring in Huawei's turnaround time, it is very common for the total waiting time to reach 4 days or even exceed it.
