The Ivatan cultural inventory also records Kapangdeng, a traditional ritual associated with the people of Batanes. It belongs to the same broader cultural world in which fishing, the sea, and spiritual beliefs are closely connected.

Traditional Ivatan communities developed ceremonies to maintain relationships with unseen forces believed to influence human activities and the natural environment.

These practices were especially important in a landscape where fishing and seafaring were central to community life.

Kapangdeng is documented as a distinct intangible cultural element rather than simply being grouped under general Ivatan fishing customs.

Its inclusion in the Philippine inventory shows that Ivatan traditions encompass many specialized rituals beyond the better-known practices of Batanes.
