Traditional Manobo ethnobotanical knowledge includes identifying and using plants found within their environment. Knowledge can cover plants used for food, materials, dyes, medicine, and other purposes.

This information is traditionally learned through observation and experience rather than from textbooks. Knowing which plants are useful—and how and when to collect them—requires detailed familiarity with the surrounding forest.

Such knowledge can therefore represent generations of accumulated environmental experience.
