In Czechia, amateur theater has developed into a long-running community tradition. Performances are organized by local groups that rehearse, act, direct, and manage productions themselves. The activity can bring people from different generations together around a shared cultural project. Performances may take place in local theaters and community spaces.
Knowledge is passed through participation rather than requiring professional theater training. UNESCO inscribed Amateur theatre acting in Czechia in 2025.
It shows how theater can function as a community tradition even when the performers aren't professionals.
