The long whiskers around a cat's muzzle aren't its only specialized tactile hairs.
Cats also have carpal whiskers located on the backs of their front legs near the wrists.
These hairs provide sensory information during close interactions with objects or prey, particularly where the cat may have difficulty seeing something directly beneath its face.
Whiskers are therefore distributed more widely across a cat's body than many owners realize.
Look closely at the front legs and you may spot them.
