A clean elastic shówer cap can stretch over certain small handbags, bicycle baskets, or other appropriately sized belongings when you're caught by unexpected rain.
It's not a substitute for a proper waterproof cover and won't completely seal an item.
But as a temporary splash barrier, the elastic edge can hold it in place better than a loose sheet of plastic.
Keeping one folded inside a bag takes very little space.
