Plants may appear stationary, but many continuously adjust the position of their leaves and stems.
Some movements follow the direction of light, while others are linked to internal day-night rhythms. Certain plants noticeably raise, lower, fold, or unfold their leaves between daytime and nighttime.
These movements can happen slowly enough to be difficult to notice in real time but become obvious in time-lapse recordings.
