The immortal jellyfish (Turritopsis dohrnii) has the unique ability to reverse its life cycle by transforming its ãdül† cells back into a younger stage. Instead of dying after reproduction, it can start its life over under certain conditions. Scientists are studying this remarkable process to better understand aging and cell regeneration.
Although it can still die from disease or predators, its biology is unlike that of most animals. It is one of nature's most extraordinary survival strategies.
