WARNING re: PRIVATE DNS USE

Using the private DNS is optional. Its main purpose is to block ads, and it’s completely up to you if you want to use it. It has no other purpose. Regarding security, it’s already stated there’s no reason for us to use your logs. If your intention is just to help, then there’s nothing to worry about.
logging can be totally disabled in AGH... you can configure that via the yaml file of AGH to totally stop logging in the UI and you can even disable its log writing to the disk/ram, if the intention is really to help and not monitor each users' browsing data. this is what im doing in my orangepi zero server, not because i want it, but because sd cards are fragile so i stopped AGH from constantly writing logs to the disk. Hence, there's no logging in both the UI and to the disk/ram.

Then go ahead and create your own tutorial in a safer way if you believe that’s the right approach.

at least sila may napatunayan na sa industry, not some random person in a forum... well, it's still your choice...i'm choosing the big players...selling or not, they stayed for so long in the industry, di naman sila tatagal ng ganyan if wala silang credibility...how about a random person offering those things in a forum? it's still your choice whom to trust, i'd probably still trust those big players na may napatunayan na sa industry than some random unknown/anonymous person in any forum. i mean, aminin naman natin, would you rather trust your data with some unknown person in a forum or those big players na may naptunayan sa industry (Google, cloudflare, opendns, nextdns, etc.)? i bet you, yourself, will choose the latter, coz really, you still use them as your upstream dns in AGH, right? and even the VPS provider you're using.
As I mentioned earlier, that's on you. And to answer your question, it depends on who that random person is. Those big companies you mentioned, by default, are the DNS handlers.. so it's up to us to keep it that way or look for alternatives. I choose to look for alternatives. I am choosing myself. You're right, I use them as the upstream DNS, but the VPS serves those upstream services, hiding the user's IP. If there's one big company that sees my real IP, it's Google, the VPS provider. Anyone else sees that internet traffic are coming from Google when my DNS is in use.

Let them worry and be cautious. That's how they would become aware of how broad the DNS topic really is. It's good that they are questioning how reliable and trustworthy one person is. It's a sign that they are thinking for themselves. If they don't trust a person, it's fine. If they do, that's also fine. Yes, we have no reason to use their logs for anything. It's still their choice whether to believe it or not.

I didn't really intend to share my AGH DNS with anyone else. It's initially for private use. I am using it on different devices at home for quite some time now. I just recently decided to share it with anyone who needs it. You're siding with just one purpose of logging queries. Aside from being used to monitor a device's records na gaya ng sinabi mo, logs are also crucial for investigating and checking for abuse. If there's abuse and the DNS is at risk of being terminated, I can simply search the logs to see who's responsible instead of doing nothing, knowing I can build another server. Building from scratch to setting up DNS on my devices... that's so much of a hassle and I don't want that. I know privacy matters, which is why it is set to automatically clear logs from both the UI and the VPS every 24 hours.

Ooh.. so nag-share ka rin pala ng DNS. I didn't see that. Ako nga walang nakalagay na disclaimer sa thread ko kasi I am under the impression na obvious na may logs. Hahahaha

Oo, kaya my thread na tungkol dito haha.

This post is just a warning specially sa new dns users. Logging is just one part nung risk ng pag gamit ng private dns na privately owned or registered. phishing, and other mitm attacks can be initiated nung admin ng private dns. Trust is a big thing. Kaya mabuti rin na may warning para alam nila na may risk sa pag gamit ng private dns. Maybe you guys are safe, pero definitely not all are.
