💡 Trivia Pastor Boy Dila, Pinanalo ng Comelec

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections Second Division has declared Benny Abante as the duly elected Representative of the Manila City 6th District in the 2025 midterm elections.

This came after the division voided the certificate of candidacy of Joel Uy, whose proclamation is considered “annùlléd.”

Foreigners can become Filipino citizens through naturalization, which generally requires a minimum 10-year residency in the Philippines, demonstrating good moral character, proficiency in English or Spanish and a Philippine language, and owning real estate or having a lucrative profession. They can also acquire citizenship by descent if their parent(s) were Filipino citizens at the time of their birth.

Galing sa source mo:
Uy Ho, who was naturalized as a Filipino five years after Uy's birth in 1962.

Uy claimed his mother was a natural-born Filipina and that his public service, including voting and holding office as a Manila councilor.

Hatdog hahahaha

However, that doesn't support his goal of running for local government positions. Uy, born in 1962, derived his citizenship from his father, Uy Ho, who was naturalized as a Filipino five years after Uy's birth.

it still doesn't changed the fact that Joel Uy is the one that is voted by the people, abante just won by disqualifying the highest voted candidate, yung mandate niya does not come from the people

hahaha 1962 to 2025? Ano nalang yung may US Citizen niyan hahahaha

Hindi mo ba talaga naintidihhan ito?

Na inherit ni Uy yung citizenship niya sa ama niya before ito na naturalized, which means he is not a natural-born Filipino.

No Replacement by Second Placer:• Philippine jurisprudence clarifies that if a candidate's certificate of candidacy (COC) is void ab initio (from the beginning) due to disqualification, even if they win the election, their votes are considered stray votes.• Therefore, the candidate who received the second highest number of votes does not automatically replace the disqualified winner.
Dominador Jalosjos vs. COMELEC (G.R. No. 193237, June 26, 2012) – The Supreme Court said the second placer cannot be proclaimed because it would go against the principle of majority rule.
