Italian female boxer falls to her knees and cries as she abandons fight against Olympic opponent deemed biologically male after just 46 SECONDS following two powerful punches to the face that dislodged her helmet.

A boxer deemed a 'biological male' today won against an Italian woman in one of the most controversial Olympic bouts ever.
The fight took 46 seconds and her Italian opponent threw her helmet onto the floor as the fight was abandoned.

She refused the handshake, fell to the canvas sobbing as the emotional Italian broke down in tears after just two punches.

Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, 25, fought Italy's Angela Carini, 25 despite being banned from a major boxing contest before the Olympics.

After the match was stopped, the referee raised Khelif's hand in the air. But a visibly furious Carini yanked her hand away from the fight official before exiting the ring without shaking her opponent's hand.

Ignoring the Algerian, the Italian fighter then dropped to her knees and burst into tears as she said she had never felt such strong blows in a contest before.

Speaking after the match, the heartbroken Italian said: 'I have always honoured my country with loyalty. This time I didn't succeed because I couldn't fight anymore. So I put an end to the match.'

She said she did not walk away from the fight as a protest against her opponent’s inclusion, but that was a decision for the Olympics to consider.

She was taken away for medical assessment to examine the seriousness of her facial injuries which included a bruised nose.

Khelif was thrown out of last year's world championships after failing testosterone tests carried out to establish gender qualification.

But despite her gender test problems, she was admitted to the Olympics amid a huge furore.

Olympics officials at Paris 2024 have accepted her as a female and state so in her official games biography.

Pocha.

Obviously the mistake was ignoring the testosterone test.

To prevent this tragedy from happening
1- create a standard qualification test for participation in female sports.
2- remove all cultural restrictions that prevents trans people in managing their testosterone levels to give them a path to be qualified.

In sum, this tragedy is rooted in our current cultural restrictions, prejudices, against LGBTQ. It strengthens the idea for the need to push against these systemic homophobia within society.

Kahit ano ang mangyari, the world can't be changed.

Equality in opportunities.... lahat ayaw.

Ganun.

So know yourself. You do not like equality. You like the traditional gender role na tipong men and women. Men are strong. Women are weak. Mga ganun kataga. Tipong separate gender role.

Gusto ng separate gender role between a man and a woman.

Ayaw ng homosexual.

Gusto ng heterosexual....... daming ayaw.

O siya poh.

Pagbigyan uli ang kanilang kahilingan.

Dami noh.

Accept the fact na homophobic na nag-aayaw. Tipong meron matinding negative feelings and emotions dahil as long as meron ang tao, homophobic poh siya. Tandaan niyo. Ganun poh iyon.

It seems na dinideny nila.

Based on what I read, Khelif is a female who was previously suspended by IBA due to failing sa testosterone level tests.

IOC handled ung screening for the paris olympic boxing matches na dati IBA ang nagawa…i dunno if may testosterone level requirements ang IOC or not.

Is there any definite answer kung babae ba sya or lalake? Kung wala i think ang issue dito is not ang gender nea but ung testosterone levels..

I agree it is irrelevant kung ano ang identity nya in a socialization sense. Testosterone level is a valid ground for disqualification.

It is certain na kahit yan ang grounds, some LGBTQ rights activist will still frame this as discrimination. Which, in a way, they are right, dahil societies still limit their options to control their testosterone level due to cultural reasons.

just continue lowering testosterone levels, simple
Is it really that simple? My impression is that once a human body is exposed to testosterone, their body will have some of the traits of a male body permanently. Which means they should start therapy at or before puberty, otherwise, their testosterone can permanently ban them. This is when we hit the problem of the parents control over them.

Ayyy!!! Baligtad pala.

But hindi naman kasi masisi dahil kapag male to female transition raw , sabi , mas mahirap kaysa male to female transition to a biological poh. Pati voice and katawan. Lahat. Mahirap daw.

Mahirap raw kapag sa lalake daw kapag transition to female biologically.

Just wanna make it clear.. na when i said na hindi issue ang gender eh i meant that both fighters were female…playing in a women’s category..

Khelif’s disqualification based on IBA standards eh dahil sa testorone levels nea na mataas for women’ division sa boxing. Was that her fault? No. Though unconfirmed kung may XY or Swyer Syndrome sya the only thing we know for now is un ang findings ng IBA. We also dont know kung ung IOC have such requirements in terms a testorone levels.. kung wala sila sinet then its on them and not the fighters.

Now i dont agree na sakyan pa to ng any LGBTQA+ movement as discriminatory..wala nmn kasi to begin with. Its a matter lang ng regulations na sinet ng olympic committee kung nameet or not.

I just wanna be fair to both fighters here, they are both female and they were both cleared to fight.

This has nothing to do with culture or gender identity..

Ha?? Read more on it para mas maintindihan mo

hindi naman kasi one time big time yang existence ng male traits boss, the trait's existence depends on the testosterone level maintained by the person, for example, the higher the testosterone level the higher the muscle mass, if this level is reduced then muscles shrink as well, it's not that if nag expand yung muscles ay permanent na, certain testosterone levels must be maintained pa rin to keep the traits

After reading more about this issue, parang similar yata sya sa controversial case ni Nancy Navalta, a track & field athlete who was later determined to be an intersex.

Conventionally, she would be female kung ang basehan ay genìtalia. Pero mataas ang testosterone level giving them male traits.

This adds another conflicting issue regarding how we determine a persons gender. Should we ignore their genìtalia and focus mainly on hormone levels? If that is the case... The more it is a reason to allow trans-people in women sports when they pass the hormone level test.

I am surprised that we do not have the same level of drama in the paralympics. Doon, napakalaki ng range ng capability difference ng bawat participant, yet they do not complain about their opponent's unfair advantages. I guess it is time to stop treating womanhood as a handicap?

Why do we need to make this into a gender issue?? This is just a sports issue…un lang…

Kapag sinabi kasi na transgender, in a literal sense, transition na siya from woman to a man or man to a woman pero ang nakikita ko, hindi sila transition fully, hahaha. Parang half-half lang sila kaya for me, hindi ko masasabi na transgender. Transgender pero not biologically complete. Parang kalahati woman at kalahati man pa rin. Haha. Eh...transition nga eh noh.

For me, papaano maisasali sa women's competition or men's competition kung half-half lang ang pagtransition nila at hindi fully as in.

Maybe nakakabenefit pa rin kasi sila pero at the same, hindi naman din sila secured kung ilalagay sa men's sport dahil nga lagi sila talo dahil nga they think like a woman and act like a woman poh. Lagi sila huli.

For me. Walang equality for me. Dahil for me, sa mundo ng patriarchal culture poh, two gender lang siya tinitingala as acceptable at normal which is lalake at babae lamang. Lalake din ang itinitingala na influential role because of their physical strength.

eh hindi naman yung genetic gender natin ang ginagamit sa sports kundi yung mismong strength natin, nagbi-base lang sa genetic gender ang determination ng strength but it is actually the strength that functions in game

Why do we need to make this into a gender issue?? This is just a sports issue…un lang…
Nasa title naman ng post. At bukod dun, I am not "making it into an issue." It was an issue to begin with regarding intersex people which is almost only revealed in sports. Isn't that the reason why this case is gaining attention?

Yes it was an issue, but not a gender issue which what everyone is initially saying..and all the misinformation that came after.. that is why this gained so much traction… politicians joined the party pa nga… di nmn toh ang first time nangyari in a competition… we all know nmn kung ano ang nangyari after the fight.. na it was a trans vs woman daw… now its about the feud between IBA and IOC, about the italian boxer’s history of quitting sa matches etc…

I just feel for the algerian boxer… she got so much hate for this…
Sa dulo eh its still a female vs another female.. kung may inallow man ang ioc na testorone levels for one eh its their fault and not the boxers…

Okay that makes sense. But I don't think pwede na ihiwalay ang issue ng gender.

If mataas ang testosterone level nya through artificial means, by all means disqualify her. Pero kung natural lng tlgang mataas ang hormone nya, then it is merely a trait of her body like all other traits such as their reach. It becomes a logical problem kung bakit magdidisqualify tayo ng isang trait at hindi ng iba.

Kahit anong choice gawin ng IOC dito, they are damned by either party. It it really boils down to the fundamental question, what makes a person a female sa view ng sports. Is it their body part? Or is it their hormones?

If we go with hormones, then therefore we should allow trans-women in women sports too. If we go with their organs... then it must follow that you are okay with the case in this post.

Again with the assertion about trans and gender…
This isnt about that… and does it have to be one over the other?? Like either hormones or *******ia?? Why not both???

Labas na muna ang mga trans dito… its an issue in women’s sports… female sports… if rules for said sports requires a limitation on testosterone levels and other performance enhancing substance then so be it..whether natural or artificial if rules were set for it kailangan sundin… now sa IOC im not sure kung meron sila…but it seems na wala since Imane was allowed to compete.. kung nagkataon na it was set and she was not allowed to compete then ganon talaga.. un rules nila eh..

If may ganong rules hopefully they do it across the board and not sa select few na nababasa ko..

Eto sana rules n maganda…females competing within the same weight class syempre, and testosterone level not more than whatever they deemed fair…

Pinaliwanag ko nga kung bakit inseperable ang gender when it comes sa judgement ng IOC. I think you want the conversation to stop where we simply blame them.

This is why the lgbt movement is explaining why the gender should be viewed as a spectrum across society instead of black and white.
Kahit nga between black and white, there will be a gray area where our judgment will be arbitrary kung igigiit natin ang dichotomy ng gender.
I think you are aware na lahat ng tao ay may female organ on their embryonic stage until hormones take effect sa katawan nila. At depending sa level ng hormones kung ano ang kakalabasan, with intersex as a possible condition. This stage is uncontrollable and is unfair to be a basis of their rights on any aspect.
Now, ung effect ng hormone na meron kinalaman sa sports occurs in puberty. With the available technology, this is controllable. That is why I am fine with khelif being disqualified on basis of hormone.
