Vanch1018 seems to always locked his thread to avoid any response to what he is "preaching" which is okay since most of them can just be brush off since it does not make any sense. Some of them are written to belittle other 'imaginary" people while some are full of flaws like the civil marriage thread. This one in particular though about slavery is something that i think should be address... original thread is here : https://phcorner.org/threads/the-harmonious-relationship-of-master-and-servant.1304130/

so lets give it a go...
here's the TLB version of those verses: 20 “If a man beats his slave to death—whether the slave is male or female—that man shall surely be punished. 21 However, if the slave does not die for a couple of days, then the man shall not be punished—for the slave is his property.
clearly not all mistreatment of slaves can be punish... a master can beat his slave as much as he wants as long as that slave wont die for a couple of days... imagine that law and how a master and a slave will interpret that.
22 “If two men are fighting, and in the process hurt a *******t woman so that she has a miscarriage, but she lives, then the man who injured her shall be fined whatever amount the woman’s husband shall demand, and as the judges approve. 23 But if any harm comes to the woman and she dies, he shall be executed.
verse 22 was mentioned here so i will touch on those a bit and include verse 23 since its connected with verse 22... basicallly if men strive or fight and hurt a *******t woman in the process resulting to miscarriage then the perpetrator will be punished by a fine which will be determined by the husband... punishment of death will only happen if the woman dies... OKAY..so this speaks of punishment..thats good... what really bothers me about this rule however is the value that is being put on the child thats lost or miscarried... it seems that it is valued less than that of the woman's... the lost of the baby is punishable by fine while the lost of the woman's life is punishable by death... hmmmm... 2 If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.
3 If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.
4 If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself.
5 And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:
6 Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.
7 And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.
8 If she please not her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed: to sell her unto a strange nation he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with her.
verse 4 is very clear that a slave's wife (if she was given by the master) and their children cant go out with him.... and if that slave because of his love for his family refuses to leave his wife and children then he can declare it so that he will bored in the ear and serve his master forever.... giving the master a "loophole" so as he can potentially keep his slave forever is not really a very "liberating" doctrine...
as for female slaves nman eh u just need to read verse 7 and tell me if thats liberating at all...
his reasoning that modern day employer-employee relationship is practically slavery is just false. modern day employees are not forced to work for someone.. employees have the right to chose to work or not. laws on slavery as written on exodus 21 is not the same and is very far from what working for someone is today. even some relationships between a boss and his subordinates are not always harmonious... termination of employment is common.
even the bible has a clear distinction of what a slave and a hired laborer is..
39 And if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poor, and be sold unto thee; thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bondservant:
40 But as an hired servant, and as a sojourner, he shall be with thee, and shall serve thee unto the year of jubile.
41 And then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return.
42 For they are my servants, which I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: they shall not be sold as bondmen.
43 Thou shalt not rule over him with rigour; but shalt fear thy God.
44 Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids.
45 Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession.
46 And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour.
39 “If a fellow Israelite becomes poor and sells himself to you, you must not treat him as an ordinary slave, 40 but rather as a hired servant or as a guest; and he shall serve you only until the Year of Jubilee. 41 At that time he can leave with his children and return to his own family and possessions. 42 For I brought you from the land of Egypt, and you are my servants; so you may not be sold as ordinary slaves 43 or treated harshly; fear your God.
44 “However, you may purchase slaves from the foreign nations living around you, 45 and you may purchase the children of the foreigners living among you, even though they have been born in your land. 46 They will be permanent slaves for you to pass on to your children after you; but your brothers, the people of Israel, shall not be treated so.
even yung treatment is may pagkakaiba as clearly stated na Israelite "hired servant" is not to be treated harshly or with rigour...ordinary slaves were not given this rule...
anyone i know will never choose to work for someone if the rules for his employment is the same as those in the bible... if TS disagrees then maybe he can ask to be someone's slave and be beaten with a rod as long as he wont die in a couple days and never ask for any compensation or punishment from his employer..

according to him, EXODUS 21:20-21 speaks of punishment for a master that abuses his servant... well im not sure if he can read properly because verse 21 clearly says that "..if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money..."I am now sure that these people really can not be considered as humans, but ‘imaginary’! Even their imagination does not work well for them. They say that God is a “huge proponent of slavery” in the Bible, and cited verses, particularly, Exodus 21:20-21; Colossians 3:22-24; Ephesians 6:5; 1 Peter 2:18. A quick look at these verses will disclose that these imaginary people are fools; and only fools like them will believe them. Let us examine these verses thoroughly.
EXODUS 21:20-21
20 And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.
21 Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money. If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.
The verses speak of punishment for a master that abuses his servant or his maid. And notice that this is on verse 20 of chapter 21, meaning, that these imaginary people have read first verse 2 before arriving at verse 20. On verse 2 of the same chapter, it says:

wow.."liberation" he says... god wants them to be free... hmmm..lets look at what the rest of the verses says which Vanch1018 or the original author failed to recognize:EXODUS 21:2-3
2 If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.
3 If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.
God speaks of the liberation of slaves after a certain period of service to someone who bought him to be his slave. Is God a proponent of slavery? Definitely not! God wants slaves to be liberated. We must remember that God liberated His people, Israel, who were made slaves by the ungodly pharaohs of Egypt; But because He is a God of justice, to those who practice slavery, or who hire servants, God teaches them to deal with their servants properly, and liberate them afterwards. To show impartiality, God equally teaches servants to serve their masters or lords in the flesh faithfully.
5 And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:

notice how the author jumped to the second definition and ignore the first one... while a word can have multiple definitions, the first one listed is the most common usage or meaning of a certain word... the first definition here aligns with what the bible says about a slave as someone's money/property.Slavery, for people who lack understanding is a sour word, or maybe bitter, but if we are going to open our eyes and see in a broader perspective the realities in life, until now in our modern society, the essence of slavery is practiced everywhere and, practically, of most, if not all, people. A slave is defined in the Encarta dictionary as:
slave [slayv]
noun (plural slaves)
1. somebody forced to work for another: somebody who is forced to work for somebody else for no payment and is regarded as the property of that person
2. dominated person: somebody who is dominated by somebody or by something
3. somebody accepting another’s rule: somebody who meekly accepts being ruled by somebody else
4. very hard worker: somebody who works hard, in bad conditions, and for low pay
5. device controlled by another: an electronic or mechanical device that is controlled by another (often used before a noun)
An employee or a helper is practically a slave of his employer. Somebody working under the domination or rule of another is a slave according to the dictionary. Do we have to blame God for these harmonious relationships in society between an entrepreneur and his helpers? Anybody against this reality is stupid! Not all people on earth can be ‘bosses’. Not everybody can be a leader, a king, or a president! A king has his subjects. A leader has followers. A manager has his assistance, and so on. Whether they accept it or not, some people are of lesser capacity and intelligence than others. This is scientific and reality.
MATTHEW 25:15
And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
A God who understands our being and compassionate in dealing with our infirmities guides us to the proper place in society where we can be most useful to Him through the services we can render to people.
