Do you have a China-ROM Xiaomi phone? Well, here's some bad news for you folks.
Reports from Xiaomi users in China surfaced that their smartphones were disabled from downloading Google Mobile Services (GMS). This, following the rollout of MIUI 12.5, the latest software update from Xiaomi.
But this only happens to Xiaomi's China-ROM smartphones, as the move was with compliance to China's ban with Google's GMS.
For now, affected devices as reported were Redmi K30 Ultra, and Redmi 10X 5G, as Xiaomi did not revealed the list of models that are disabled from GMS, but it is highly likely that all devices that will running MIUI 12.5 will soon get affected by this move.
Here in the Philippines, there are black markets and online resellers that sells China-ROM Xiaomi devices, and some of these phones haven't been released globally, such as the Xiaomi 11. It is highly likely that their products will also get affected by this move from Xiaomi.
Without the GMS, users cannot access Google applications like the Chrome, Gmail, and Google Maps. And instead of downloading apps from the App Store, users can only download apps from Xiaomi's Mi Store, which has more Chinese apps than the global ones.
Guess the better option for Pinoy Xiaomi fans now is to wait for their global releases.
