Whitebeard’s wounds Throughout the Battle of Marineford, Whitebeard received 267 sword wounds, 152 gunshot wounds and 46 wounds from cannonballs — adding up to a total of 465 injuries at the time of death. Despite this, there was not a single scar on Whitebeard’s back showing cowardice. In manga, Whitebeard lost half of his face in the fight, but that wasn’t so in the anime.

However, in the anime, his time with the Straw Hats was extended and he journeys with them for a while. About Megalo-chan, his model… rather, where his name came from; is he named after a large shark called “Megalodon” that was thought to have existed way back when? Luffy made a cameo in DBZ before One Piece was even released :D A Chinese net user uploaded a panel from what’s supposedly an oldDragon Ball manga. In it, you can see the back of a straw hat (kinda like Luffy’s) and a skinny character in a tank top (kinda like Luffy). This seems to be the only place that this character pops up. Here’s the catch: the original Dragon Ball, where this was apparently discovered, ran until 1995. One Piece didn’t start until 1997. So did this panel influence Oda? Not sure. Maybe. Or maybe it’s just a coincidence.

Fact: Despite being one of the weakest members of the Straw Hats in overall physical strength (the other being Usopp), she still manages to hurt Luffy, who is made of rubber and should be unharmed by physical attacks. Oda explains this is because she “beats up Luffy’s spirit”, which is basically the purpose of Haki.
