No surprises here: Metro Manila traffic was the worst in the world in 2023
You’ve won at something, Metro Manila, but congratulations are not in order: Last year, the country’s capital had the worst traffic congestion among 387 metro areas in the world, based on the 2023 TomTom Traffic Index. “Tell me something I don’t know,” you might be saying from where you’re currently sat in traffic (not behind the wheel, we hope—just a reminder that ADDA is real). Okay, allow us to give you several stats to provide some truly depressing context. Metro Manila’s ranking rose by one last year versus in 2022, beating Colombia’s Bogota, which now drops to fifth place. A ‘metro area,’ as defined by TomTom, is “a circle covering the city and rural areas in close proximity.” PHOTO BY LEANDRE GRECIA On average, it took...

Around a 1000 of these flowers are already grown in the greenhouses. These flowers can be bought in flower shops and online. They cost from 1500 - 2000 yen. By Kevin Hurler Published August 04, 2023 Image: Joe Raedle (Getty Images) In the latest chapter of Elon Musk’s saga to take over the world with corporations named after the letter “X,” the billionaire tech tycoon just snagged a coveted URL: AI.com. As TechCrunch notes, this is a big shakeup in Silicon Valley as the URL previously belonged to artificial intelligence juggernaut OpenAI, the company behind the wildly popular chatbot ᑕᕼᗩTGᑭT. AI.com now directs to X.ai and according to the Way Back Machine, the website was in the hands of OpenAI until at least July 29, at which point it was not operational but still bore the symbol of...
Metro Manila to Bicol E×ρréšš railway project frozen as China funding uncertain
Metro Manila to Bicol E×ρréšš railway project frozen as China funding uncertain MANILA — The government paused the construction of the Bicol E×ρréšš train as funding for the project has not been finalized, Philippine National Railways (PNR) General Manager Jeremy Regino said Tuesday. In the initial plan, China was supposed to be the government's partner in funding the Bicol E×ρréšš train project, also known as PNR South Long Haul. The country however is still uncertain whether this will push through, despite the ongoing construction of the North-South Commuter Railway that will connect Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, and Laguna. The finance and transportation departments are working to find alternative sources of funding. It is...

PNR’s NCR line to close by January File photo of Philippine National Railways station MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Railways (PNR) will cease all of its passenger services in Metro Manila by January 2024 to give way to the civil works for the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR). PNR general manager Jeremy Regino told reporters that the agency will shut its daily operations between Alabang and Tutuban by the middle of January 2024. Regino said the closure of PNR services in Metro Manila will affect as many as 35,000 Filipinos who travel on the rail line daily for its cheap cost. As such, the PNR is asking the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to increase bus availability in the affected...

The pìrâé Bay is 20 years old today!
Can you believe it's been 20 years already since the world's most resilient torrent website was created? Founded in 2003 by the Swedish anti-copyright group Piratbyrån (“Bureau of Piracy”), the site is still as relevant today as it was back then. The site's creators, it's Admin, 'Winston' and the TPB Crew are all staunch defenders of information piracy and freedom of speech. Censorship is abhorrent and always will be. DMCA takedown notices are never complied with, and often ridiculed by staff. Hollywood has tried and failed to end the site many times, and even googly-eyed non-entity Kanye West once declared war on TPB. Most of the current TPB Crew have been here for well over 10 years, many for much, much longer, and we're proud to be...
