Zamboanga City has recorded nearly 100 rape cases

NEW NORMAL IN BAGONG PILIPINAS? Zamboanga City has recorded nearly 100 rape cases involving minors since January 2024, the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) said. From January 1 to August 28, 2024, rape cases involving minors reached 95. Of the said number, 33 have been solved. Police said 85 percent of cases was incest or the perpetrators are relatives of victims. “We have received complaints on rape and this is basically incest by nature. It happens in the household and we acknowledge the presence of this and we really condemn this kind of act,” ZCPO Director Col. Kimberly Molitas said.
