Tax ‘non-issue’ in Honda closure
The decision to close its car factory in Santa Rosa, Laguna, has nothing to do with excise tax, according to Louie Soriano, Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) spokesman.
Soriano clarified that the closure of the factory is “basically a strategy of Honda company.”
He said it was not the decision of Honda Cars Philippines to close the factory but that it was one made by the headquarters in Tokyo.
Soriano added that the decision “has nothing to do with the government policy or the labor union.”
He said the decision was also based on “the efficient allocation and utilization of the resources.”
