CHECK DISTRIBUTION NAME & VERSION DETAILS
There are several command you can use.

First magic command:
cat /etc/*-release

And here’s sample output:

CentOS:

Debian:

Second magic command:

cat /etc/issue
Sample output (screenshot)

CentOS:
