Back then when the newly Philippine bank notes (Paper bills) was released, many didn't noticed the error on the bills which is the scientific names of the animals are written incorrect.
What was the errors?
-Scientific name is not italicized.
-Species name or epithet (second name) should not begin with a upper case letter.
What it should be?
-The first letter of the genus name should be capitalized and the rest of the name are lowercase even the epithet.
-The scientific name should be printed italicized or if written manually(without italicize as option), it should be underlined.
Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas immediately responded after some critics saw this error and said they will do the corrections in their next prints, which is now, most bills are corrected.
Scientific names are important like your names given when you are born as well. It gives identification to a species from other species and to avoid confusion.
By the way, all living organisms have their own scientific names including humans.
