For both of you, try this:
1. Eat well.
2. Sleep well.
3. Ask why you are in this mess in the first place.

Don't talk about anything yet if you both haven't eaten well, or have not enough sleep in the past days/weeks so when you discussed it, you won't make it worse. Once you both feel good about yourselves, open up. Who knows? You might end up both laughing it out and realize how dumb you are to end up in this situation.
