in the weeks after,
i traced my fingers along
the c racks and fractures of
my porcelain heart
and i could still
feel the imprint
where your palms
used to rest.
there are shards missing,
revealing the bleeding red
beneath, and i know
that those fragments
rest in your pocket.
of course,
you had to leave
with some sort of
piece of me
and i let you.
i'm not angry
at all
that you plucked
a part of my heart.
yet i can't help
but feel gloomy
because even though
you have it,
it won't make us
any less of strangers.
