How to make my wifi speed faster?

[jaw9090]

Hi! I'm not really knowledgeable when it comes to tech stuff, so I need your help. Yung PLDT subscription namin is 1000 mbps (3 households ang gumagamit). Now, yung wifi router ko is max 300 mbps so I know na lower talaga ang speed. Pero bakit parang naka cap to 90 mbps lang yung wifi speed (consistent siya sa 90-95)? I'm expecting kahit 150+ - 200 mbps man lang sana. I tried na rekta salpak sa laptop ang connection at umaabot ng 900+ mbps ang speed so I know na hindi sa wired connection ang problema. May setting ba sa router na dapat palitan?

first guess is that you're connected to the 2.4 GHz WiFi SSID. kung 5 GHz capable 'yung router / access point, check if this is enabled and ensure your laptop (assuming this is also capable of 5 GHz) is connected using this.

The router in my original post does not have 5ghz, so I bought a new router with 2.4ghz and 5ghz. I still get the same speed as my old router even if I'm connected to the 5ghz

just because your new router has 5 GHz Wi-Fi does not mean your device is on 5 GHz. maraming factors that lead to this. habang connected, check the WiFi properties to confirm if it's actually using Wi-Fi 5. after that, let's see if there's something you can do about it.

for example, not unusual for routers to ship with separate SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. baka kailagan mo lang ikonekta dun sa 5 GHz.

also, if you have other devices, na-check mo na ba kung nakaka-5 GHz 'yung iba?

Malayo ba pwesto mo sa router paps kapag naka connect ka? Like maraming pader or nakaharang?

May ganyang use case kasi ako before, kaya nilipat ko lang router malapit sa pwesto ko, either naka wifi or wireless almost the same speed nakukuha ko
