Reports circulating online from the Democratic Republic of the Congo have raised concerns about alleged harassment, intimidation, and abuse of civilians by members of the Wazalendo forces.
The Wazalendo are pro-government armed groups operating alongside Congolese forces in the conflict in eastern DRC. The social-media post shown here alleges that forces associated with President Félix Tshisekedi and Bitakwira have been involved in mistreatment of civilians.
The footage accompanying the post is disturbing, but the circumstances surrounding the video, including when and where it was recorded and who is shown, would need to be independently verified.
