A daily-diary study followed 99 couples (198 people) and measured their interactions twice per day for seven days.

Researchers examined self-disclosure, perceived partner disclosure, responsiveness, and couple satisfaction.

The results reinforced the importance of perceived responsiveness in understanding everyday relationship quality.

That means researchers don't only find relationship effects when asking people broad questions like “Are you happy together?”

Tiny interactions occurring during ordinary days can provide measurable information about how connected partners feel.
