Early romantic attraction can influence how people evaluate the person they like.
Research on positive illusions in relationships shows that romantic partners can sometimes view each other more favorably than completely objective observers would.
Some positive bias may even coexist with satisfying relationships.
But overlooking harmless imperfections is very different from ignoring serious disrespect, dishonesty, or controlling behavior.
