Yellowing can result from several different issues, including excessive moisture, insufficient moisture, natural aging, unsuitable light, nutrient problems, or root stress.

Automatically watering whenever a leaf turns yellow can therefore make certain problems worse.

Checking the growing medium, drainage, location, and which leaves are affected provides more useful information than leaf color alone.

Plant symptoms are clues—not always instructions.
