💡 Trivia Ocean Water Can Glow Blue at Night

Certain microscopic marine organisms can produce light through bioluminescence.

When the water is disturbed by waves, swimmers, boats, or other movement, some organisms emit brief flashes that can make the ocean appear to sparkle or glow blue.

Large concentrations can create spectacular illuminated shorelines under suitable conditions.

The phenomenon isn't light reflecting from the Moon—the light is being produced by living organisms in the water itself.
