Dreams can contain people who seem incredibly detailed, complete with voices, E×ρréššions, and personalities. The sleeping brain draws from stored visual and social information to construct these experiences. Some dream characters may resemble familiar people, while others can feel like complete strangers.
Scientists still don't fully understand exactly how every dream character is generated. What's remarkable is how convincing these imaginary social encounters can become. A person who never existed can feel completely real until the dream ends.
