Cignal And Cignal Play (Philippines) has announced advisory that five HBO Asia channels will cease broadcasting on Cignal beginning September 1, 2026 and Cignal Play from August 16, 2026.
According to the advisory, the affected channels are:
• HBO
• Cinemax
• HBO Family
• HBO Signature
• HBO Hits
The five channels are scheduled to stop broadcasting from 12:00 AM on September 1, 2026, marking another major change to the traditional pay-TV landscape in the Philippines.
Despite the removal of these HBO Asia linear channels, Cignal customers will still be able to enjoy other entertainment options, including TAP Movies, and 3 new channels: Studio Universal, Bein Sports 1, 2 and 3.
The move reflects the continued shift in the entertainment industry from traditional linear television channels toward direct-to-consumer streaming platforms. HBO Max has increasingly become Warner Bros. Discovery’s primary destination for HBO programming, Warner Bros. movies, Max Originals and other premium content.
For Filipino viewers, the discontinuation means that several familiar HBO-branded channels will disappear from the Cignal channel lineup, while HBO Max continues to serve as the streaming destination for the company's premium entertainment catalog.
