Psychologists have found that looking forward to a vacation, concert, or special event can sometimes produce as much happiness as the event itself. Anticipation activates the brain's reward system and creates positive expectations.
This is why countdowns, surprise gifts, and upcoming plans often feel exciting. The brain enjoys imagining future rewards, not just experiencing them. Happiness can begin long before the moment arrives. Sometimes, waiting is part of the reward.
