Wombats are the only known animals that produce cube-shaped droppings. Scientists believe the unusual shape helps prevent the droppings from rolling away. Wombats use them to mark their territory by placing them on rocks and logs. Their intestines naturally create the cube shape before the waste leaves the body.
Researchers have even studied wombats to understand this unique biological process. Nature can be stranger than fiction.
