Many spiders travel through the air using a method called ballooning. They release fine strands of silk that catch the wind and even Earth's electric field, allowing them to float for miles. Young spiders use this technique to find new places to live.
Scientists have observed ballooning spiders reaching surprisingly high altitudes. Nature has invented flight in more ways than one.
