Google just rolled out three new additions to its Gemini family — Gemini 3.6 Flash, Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite, and Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber — all built on the Gemini 3.5 Flash base but tuned for efficiency, speed, and agentic workloads at scale.
Gemini 3.6 Flash
This is the new workhorse model, improving coding, knowledge work, and multimodal performance while cutting costs. According to the Artificial Analysis Index, it uses 17% fewer output tokens than 3.5 Flash, and on coding benchmarks like DeepSWE it can save up to 65% of tokens, all at a lower cost per output token. It's priced at $1.50 per 1M input tokens and $7.50 per 1M output tokens, and also comes with stronger resistance to jailbreaking attempts.
Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite
This is the fastest, most cost-effective model in the 3.5 lineup, hitting 350 output tokens per second according to the Artificial Analysis Index — a notable jump over prior Flash-Lite generations, especially in agentic workflows [5]. Pricing is aggressively low at roughly $0.30 per 1M input tokens and $2.50 per 1M output tokens.
Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber
This one is a specialized model built exclusively for cybersecurity work — finding, validating, and patching software vulnerabilities — and it's paired with Google's CodeMender code security agent. Unlike the other two, it's not available to the general public; access is restricted to government agencies and certified partners, specifically to prevent misuse.
Where you can use them
Model | Developers | Enterprises | General users |
3.6 Flash | Gemini API via AI Studio, Android Studio, Google Antigravity, rolling out in GitHub Copilot | Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, Gemini Enterprise app | Gemini app |
3.5 Flash-Lite | Gemini API via AI Studio, Android Studio | Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform | Gemini app, rolling out in Google Search |
3.5 Flash Cyber | Not public — via CodeMender only | Government/certified partners only | Not available |
Overall, this release shows Google doubling down on efficiency and specialization rather than raw scale — 3.6 Flash raises the bar for everyday coding and multimodal tasks, 3.5 Flash-Lite targets speed and cost at high volume, and 3.5 Flash Cyber signals a shift toward purpose-built, access-restricted models for sensitive domains like cybersecurity. Together, they suggest Google's near-term strategy favors leaner, task-optimized models over broad frontier releases, with a full Gemini 3.5 Pro still to come.
